Throughout Tigray there are traces of the horror and violence suffered.
There was no place of refuge from the barbarism, which reached every corner and now we must rebuild lives and try to rebuild and re-create a space for the difficult future. Mekelle, Wukro, Adigrat and all the cities and villages in Tigray, are trying to survive.
Millions spent on weapons to kill and destroy. Now, there is nothing left but scrap and garbage from all of this, but there is no money for schools, nor for medicine, nor social aid.
At the end of 2022, an agreement was signed in South Africa to try to end the genocide against Tigray. After that, the fighting with heavy weapons ceased, but this has not prevented the actions and repression against the population in many areas of Tigray and other areas of Ethiopia.
Through the UN, WFP, others, the urgent delivery of food aid and medicines was established to mitigate the famine and assistance disaster that the population in Tigray is now suffering. None of this has been fulfilled, the little help that has arrived does not cover even a minimal part of the needs and does not respond in any way to what was promised.
And irony, first women and girls have been massacred and raped, but then they put up beautiful signs, announcing spaces for protection and empowerment.
Who is going to be protected? to those who have already died or to those who still live full of pain and sadness in their souls, for their children and brothers/fathers or mothers that they have lost and will never see again?
Almost no trucks arrive with those beautiful logos of the large Organizations and NGOs that promise great aid. When someone arrives here, they pass by and we continue waiting. Will they ever come with something? or are they just promises?
A country that promotes war and kills its citizens, facilitating terror and ethnic revenge, lacks honor and if it ever had it, now it only has the discredit and inhumanity of all those who have died, only due to the criminal folly of who govern them.
